The Epic Weekend
The Epic Weekend is back! Cambridge Storytellers (and a few friends) are helping to revive this splendid event – but we can’t do it on our own. Please join us! This year’s epic will take place at The Claret Centre in Buckden, near the river Ouse and Grafham Water, and just off the A1.
The weekend will run from 7.00 pm Friday to 4.00 Sunday and is fully catered. We have full run of the Victorian mansion built within the walls of a ruined bishop’s palace and the 15 acre estate (including a lake and a walled garden with its own stage!) – in our opinion a perfect setting for epic.
During the weekend as a group we aim to tell the entire story, dividing it up so we have an episode each (listeners are very welcome too). We hope there will also be time for walks, chat, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings (the river Ouse runs just nearby, and Grafham Water nature reserve is also close).
The Claret Centre can accommodate 30 people. The price is £90 per person for the whole weekend, or £110 for a single room (there are only three of these!). There is also ground-floor disabled accommodation for two people. Please pass the news on: it would be great to fill the house with storytellers and stories. Listeners will also be welcome to drop in over the weekend! The suggested edition of The Shahnameh is the Penguin Classics translation by Dick Davis.
