Contest of LiarsCan you tell truth from lie? Cambridge Storytellers are proud to present their annual Liars’ competition at Cambridge Junction. Meet some of the finest liars in East Anglia, as they try to blind you with science and pull the wool over your eyes with a collection of tall tales, outrageous fibs, and alternative versions of the truth.

Fabulous prizes! First prize £50, Second prize £25, Third prize a wooden spoon. And gold, silver and bronze medals are being created at this very moment!

For a chance to enter the competition and win the prize, just send Cambridge Storytellers no more than 300 words about yourself and about the lie you would like to tell. Closing date: Sunday 1st October. Apply now! Email your application to storytellingcambridge@gmail.com. Successful applicants will be notified by October 3rd.

The rules:

  1. The lie you tell must be told, not read. It should last 5 minutes, but not more than 7 minutes.
  2. You don’t have any connection whatsoever with Cambridge to enter, but you do have to be here on the night!
  3. Contestants must be age 18 or older.

Or come and vote for the lie you find most plausible, most entertaining, or most far-fetched! Judges include the notable liar Billy Bullshit, aka the storyteller Hugh Lupton, and other local connoisseurs of untruth from the worlds of academia and politics.

Tickets are available at The Junction website.

This event is part of the Cambridge Festival of Ideas.
